The surrounding area, and the Island, are offering an abundance of activities and sightseeing to spend a day full of adventure and experiences. To name a few, paragliding can be found in the village of Exanthia, while water sports and scuba diving are just down by the beach. Famous hiking trails like the Melissa Gorge or the Waterfalls, to wind surf in the bay of Vassiliki,  kite surf to Agios Ioannis and Gira, sailing and diving in Nidri, cycling and mountain biking.

Nidri Waterfalls

It's a two-hour hike to the falls, but you'll pass by lush pine tree forests and mountains before arriving at your destination, where you'll find vibrant blue waters, underground pools, and rugged canyons. The waterfall of Nidri is located in Dimosari, a green canyon, on the east side of the island. and it's part of Dimosari gorge, providing an oasis of freshness and calm within the island and It's even more spectacular following heavy rains! The waterfall is easy access, a short drive from the main road and a 20 minutes walk from the parking place. There is a nice cafe at the start of the road.

Panagia Faneromeni

The Monastery is located on a hill above the largest town and capital of the island, Lefkada. The general area is called Frini and on the site of the Ancient Temple dedicated to Artemis the Monastery was built in 1634. This Historic Mountain Monastery is one of the most significant religious monuments of Hellenic Christianity, visited by the Apostle Paul and continued to be the place where his followers preached his Gospel. It has withstood through the Ottoman and the Venetian rule but succumbed to fire, and it was rebuilt in 1887. The monastery's position offers scenic views to the capital town, the northern side of the island and the opposite coasts of the mainland. Inside you can find a small zoo, ecclesiastic and naval museum, important religious relics and 2000 books. In addition, the monk's cells are made available to pilgrims if necessary. Currently, the monastery is manned with 4 monks and open to the public except the hours between 14:00 to 16:00.
